Director of Financial Operations

Reports to: Vice President of Financial Operations

Compensation: $160,000–$180,000 Base Salary + 20% Annual Bonus

Position Overview:

PE owned company that generates $2.5 billion in annual revenue, is seeking a  Director of Financial Operations to join its finance leadership team. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Financial Operations, this individual will play a key role in driving financial planning, operational analysis, forecasting, and decision support across the organization.

The Director of Financial Operations will partner closely with senior leadership and operational teams to translate financial and operating data into actionable business insights. The ideal candidate will have a strong combination of financial planning and analysis, budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and operational finance experience, along with the ability to operate effectively in a large, complex organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and support the company’s annual budgeting and long-range financial planning processes, partnering with business and operational leaders across the organization.
• Manage and enhance forecasting processes, including revenue, expenses, profitability, cash flow, and key operating metrics.
• Develop sophisticated financial models and scenario analyses to evaluate business performance, strategic initiatives, investments, and operational opportunities.
• Analyze monthly and quarterly financial results, identifying significant trends, risks, opportunities, and variances to budget and forecast.
• Provide senior leadership with meaningful financial and operational insights that support strategic and tactical decision-making.
• Partner with operating leaders to evaluate business performance and identify opportunities to improve profitability, efficiency, productivity, and financial performance.
• Develop and monitor KPIs and operational performance metrics, ensuring leadership has timely visibility into business trends.
• Prepare executive-level financial analyses, presentations, dashboards, and management reporting.
• Perform detailed variance analysis, identifying the underlying operational drivers behind financial results.
• Support business cases, investment decisions, strategic initiatives, and other projects requiring advanced financial modeling and analysis.
• Work closely with accounting and other finance functions to ensure financial reporting and operational analysis are accurate, consistent, and actionable.
• Improve financial planning, reporting, forecasting, and analytical processes through greater standardization, automation, and use of technology.
• Help establish scalable financial processes and controls appropriate for a complex $2.5 billion organization.
• Lead, mentor, and develop finance professionals while building a high-performing, business-oriented financial operations function.
• Serve as a trusted financial partner to senior executives and operational leadership throughout the organization.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field required.
• MBA, CPA, or another advanced financial credential is a plus.
• Approximately 10+ years of progressive finance experience, with significant experience in financial operations, FP&A, corporate finance, or a related discipline.
• Strong experience with budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, financial analysis, and financial modeling.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze complex financial and operational information and translate it into clear recommendations for senior management.
• Experience working within a large, complex, multi-business-unit or multi-location organization is strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of financial statements and the relationship between the income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statement.
• Advanced financial modeling and analytical capabilities.
• Strong leadership and people-management experience.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to work effectively with senior executives and non-finance business leaders.
• Strong systems orientation and advanced proficiency with Excel and financial planning/reporting platforms.
• Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment while balancing strategic priorities with hands-on financial analysis.

Compensation:

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $160,000-$180,000, depending on experience and qualifications, plus a 20% annual bonus opportunity.

The successful candidate will be a highly analytical, commercially minded finance leader who enjoys operating at the intersection of finance and business operations. This individual will be equally comfortable building detailed financial models, challenging forecasts, analyzing operating performance, and presenting recommendations to senior executives.

This is an excellent opportunity for a strong financial operations or FP&A leader to take on a highly visible Director-level position within a $2.5 billion organization, reporting directly to the VP of Financial Operations.

The Director of Financial Operations role has been positioned as broader than a traditional FP&A Senior Director, but with more emphasis on operational performance, KPIs, business partnering, process improvement, and decision support.
